Yoga for India
A fundraiser class
India needs help.
Darwin Yoga Space’s connection with India runs very deep.
Our yoga practice is steeped in Hindu spirituality and some of us have been going to Pune, India regularly to study with the Iyengar family.
For fifty years foreigners have relied on Pune’s local businesses to support them with accommodation, cleaning services, transport, food and advice on cultural appropriateness. Over time many have become our friends. You might even wear yoga shorts that they make.
Most of them have lost their businesses and yet they tell me that are the lucky ones. Though they are left with little many of them now devote their time and energy to help those who have lost everything. ‘Business owners are really struggling but it is staff; the maids, cooks, drivers and shop assistants who are in a desperate situation’ says Rima, a shop keeper known to many of us.
The nonsensical government is unable to deal with the situation and people are left to their own device to survive.
Rima accepts donations to provide food and basic medicine (non-covid related) to the most affected families. I personally know Rima and trust her. I personally know some of the people she is helping.
Join us for this fund raiser event or simply donate and we will transfer the money to Rima or other trustworthy friends.
